nVidia Help needed

Post by [MgA]RockCrusher »

Okay I need some nVidia help.

My home office computer has a nVidia FX5500 256MB Video card and a MSI KT6V (Via KT600 Chipset) and I'm having a weird problem.
Every once in a while (5-10 minutes) my screen goes blank for for a second and comes back on. I've been trying to get the system to stop doing this but with no luck. Here's what I've tried to resolve this:
- Undated the MSI Mobo BIOS to the latest
- Installed the latest VIA chipset WinXP drivers (I've tried other older versions too)
- Installed the latest nVidia drivers (I've tried other older version too)

This problem has been happening since I set this system up 3 months ago.

I had this problem on my wife's ASUS system with an ATI All-in-Wonder card, but various mucking around with the aforementioned drivers resolved this problem. It was a VIA chipset system too.
My MSI/VIA/nVidia system won't co-operate in the same way.

Anyone else had this problem?

No games...it's an office computer and only runs 2D.

Most of the flickers are in IE, MS Office Apps, watching a DVD, recording TV on my PVR. Basically any kind of work involving see what's on my screen

Most anoying....

Anyone know what the BIOS settings should be for a nVidia FX5500 256MB video card?

Does it need a dedicated IRQ, or will a shared one do?

hmmmmm, It could be a dbl loaded driver rock. Please right click on my computer......click on properties and go to device drivers.

Chances are in this case, there may be a driver loaded twice. If this is the case delete both and restart the computer. It will see the need for it and start a search for the right driver which I think may be on a disk at your pad right lol?

Oh ya.....GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

Thanks Dienamic... :)

It might very well be that DD problem, Dienamic. It could be the default Windows driver, and then I loaded the new drivers.

Does nVidia (or anyone else) have a cleaner program to remove all traces of ALL nVidia drivers and nVidia software?

And who told me it was ATI drivers that suck...yeah RIGHT!
